What We Stand For

Writing in Color offers free writing courses for people of color. Our organization was developed to create a space for people of color to learn the value of reading articles by writers of color as well as sharing their reflections as a class. We specifically have chosen teachers who identify as people of color to create a clear foundation of safety. Additionally, all sources and references included in the curriculum are from writers of color. Lastly, participants are invited to enroll in the writing courses as a means to both share and heal collectively. While we do lightly encourage publication of written pieces, the primary goal is to create a culture of safety and teach concrete writing skills.
